Communication
Nature is right out there behind your back door, and there's lots of it! Unfortunately, many people dosen't know, and miss out on a lot of exciting experiences. But you can't require people to pay attention to the peregrine falcon above Storetorv when they do not know it is in the city and does't know where to look for it.
Everyday life becomes more interesting when you suddenly notice the red-tailed andrenidae in the Vennelyst Park, peregrine falcons on the harbor or the admiral in your garden flower bed. A more diverse nature with a higher biodiversity will create many more experiences in the city nature, which will benefit the citizens.
It just needs to be communicated. So we do through lectures, tours, BioBlitzs and more. We tell about what you can see in the city, where you can see the different species and at what time of year. We give them the right perspektive, and the right language to share their experiences with the city nature.
An important tool in disseminating city nature is the app Nature Base, which is the perfect tool for people who want to experience nature. With this app you can enter your own observations, see what others have experienced at the individual sites, and - not least! - use the service "What do I see here?". Take a picture of the species you are looking at, and it will directly be uploaded to birdsandnature.dk, where several thousand experts are ready to help you. Once your find is determined you receive a text message with the species name and info - and it seldom takes more than 2 minutes!
The times of tours and lectures can be found in the calender of the Natural History Museum. Come and join us and experience a new world, just outside your front door.
